Being active has multiple benefits among kids and has been proven to boost their cognitive skills and developing mind. Keeping this in mind, the Central Board of Secondary Education, the leading education council in the country has come up with a plan to introduce a compulsory sports period for students of class 1 to 12, focusing solely on health and physical education. Earlier, this initiative was made compulsory only for the students in higher grades, from class 9 to 12. Now, it will reportedly be extended for the junior classes too. According to experts, this move is being planned to help them deal with the academic pressure and promote holistic wellness. Apart from this, proposals are also being planned to make sure kids with special needs are taken care of and not excluded from the classes. Yoga will also be made part of the curriculum.
